Message from Superintendent Thoele
New Harmony School has talented teachers,
excellent support staff and involved families.
Teachers and support staff set high
expectations for students to ensure that all
children are provided an education that will
serve them well their entire lives. Parents
direct their children to work hard so that they
reach their full potential and to make good
decisions along the way. The New Harmony
Community has placed a priority on education and
learning from its very inception in the early
1800’s. The community continues to value
education and its school. This makes New
Harmony a great place to live and a great place
to learn!!
Superintendent Thoele
Mrs. Thoele hails from Teutopolis, Illinois, a town in the east-central part of
the state. She received a bachelor’s degree in Math Education from Eastern
Illinois University, where she also acquired a master’s degree in math
education. Mrs. Thoele later earned her administration and Superintendent's
degrees from her alma mater as well.  Previous to New Harmony, Mrs. Thoele
was the Superintendent of Teutopolis High School in her home town. She lives
with her husband, Jerry, and has four daughters. She also said of New
Harmony School that is has great students, hard working staff, and exists
within a friendly community; that it is an exemplary place for education. She is
currently in her 36th year within the education profession. She too carries high
expectations and seeks to make sure that students get the best education
possible before leaving high school. In the future, Mrs. Thoele hopes for a
greater course selection, a higher availability of long distance learning to
students, and the emergence of more dual-credit courses to prepare students
for post-high school education. She enjoys seeing dedicated and diligent
students who not only have good academic performance, but who also
participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities.
