Future: Ribeyre Gymnasium

Once construction is completed, the gymnasium will have a full
basketball and volleyball court, 2 walking tracks, fitness
equipment, offices for a study and research center, and much
more. The gym will continue to be used for sports practices and
community activities, and will also be able to be used for
meetings, exercise classes, ceremonies, dances, and other special
events. The establishment of a community center will enhance the
quality of life of all generations in New Harmony. The Ribeyre
Activities Community (RAC) Center will surely be one of it's kind.
Future: Ribeyre Gymnasium Restoration Group

In 1924, Alfred Ribeyre improved the lives of the people of New
Harmony, Indiana. By donating the buildings and money to help
build the gymnasium, he opened a bright future to the high school
basketball and other athletic organizations. This building was
greatly needed for many years and made a huge impact on the
town. The Ribeyre Gymnasium Restoration Group's goal is to
give New Harmony a gift as great as Mr. Ribeyre did. In 1924,
the gym was cutting edge and was one of the best in the state.
New Harmony's beloved gymnasium is now past it's prime and is
not the asset that it once was. Every true and loyal citizen of New
Harmony who wanted to give the best heritage possible to their
children knew that such a building was needed. Today, a
community center is needed for the town to come together in
healthy and positive activities.   The Ribeyre Gymnasium
Restoration Group will continue to oversee events in the
gymnasium and keep the gym in its restored condition.
